Redfern, Ayan

Night and Day Collide

Full name: Ayan Elverdine Redfern

Nicknames/Aliases: None
Gender: Female
Grade: Senior
Age: Seventeen
Date of Birth: December 25
Species: Vampire [Lamia]

Build slim and willowy, Ayan is almost delicate
Height five feet, seven inches tall
Weight ???
Hair golden, and curls at the tips. It can be easily straightened, but Ayan rarely ever bothers.
Eyes : They are wide, and almond shaped, framed by very long and thick dark lashes that need not of mascara to curl them. The color is undescriptable, for as a Redfern, it can easily go from coal black, to the clearest shade of gray, or from brown to sky blue. They shift colors, and this is something Ayan does often to confuse people.
General Appearance Ayan's expression is usually sweet and open. Do NOT let that full you, though - she's scathing and vicious and the sweeter the smile, the more horrible the thoughts are. Prefers to wear short but lose dresses (pink, white or beige), flat shoes and no jewelry, Ayan's blonde hair is always worn down. Whether it is sleek or wavy depends on her mood, though, and what is the agenda for the day.

Personality: While she may look harmless, do not let her innocent and almost angel-like appearance fool you. Ayan Redfern is a force to be reckoned with. Sharp-witted and quick with anything from actually funny jokes to the most vile of the insults, Ayan is everybody's best friend and worst enemy. She pokes fun at everyone in the most delicate and polite way possible. She is, however, fiercely loyal friend and would do anything for those she truly cares about. Though admittedly, this is mostly because those she truly cares about are few and far between. Can be blunt to the point of being brutal and cruel, Ayan has been in quite a few fights with girls and she's walked out victorious of them all, so I suggest you to NOT mess with her.

Even with all those little personality flaws, Ayan does in fact has a heart. Cannot stand to see others in pain - when she actually recognizes the pain. She's a good listener when not distracted by other things, which is rare, but she's always willing to lend an ear (or hand or fangs) to a handsome human boy, at least.

History: Mary-Lynette and Ash realized they were soul mates, but to Ash’s dismay, she sent him away, on a quest to redeem himself, to atone for his mistakes in the past. Ash came from a dark past, a history of pureblooded Redferns who did as they pleased and took what they would and made trouble for entertainment. When Ash finally made his way back to Mary-Lynette and she found him justified and forgave him for all his errors of the past, they were wed quickly and wasted little time in creating a family. Ayan was born first, but not a minute or two later, Keaden had joined them.

While growing up, the children were instilled with a strong sense of family loyalty, that family should always come first and indeed, even self-absorbed Ayan heeds this. She will fight and even kill for her family’s honor and attack anyone who dares slander their name or spread rumors. The Referns taught their children that humans were to be respected, as they themselves ARE half-human, after all. Despite this, they were raised with pride. Mary-Lynette never did become a vampire so they always lived on the cusp of the Night World. With a family in Circle Daybreak, though, they were always very much a part of the Night World. Ash would bring the children to various Night World Clubs that he knew he could trust.

Of course, this means they have always had to have a sense of fear, however minute. Night Worlders still exist out there who don’t believe in the Soul Mate Principle, who believe it shouldn’t be heeded, that humans and Night Worlders cannot be trusted together. Of course, these Night Worlders are very justified in their beliefs – there are still humans out there who WOULD try to harm them.

The Referns were raised though, under the belief that humans and Night Worlders CAN live together peacefully, as they do in Circle Daybreak. Though the children may feed on humans, they have been taught and lectured to never HARM the human and are advised to always find the most willing prey possible.
The idea of creating a second branch of Circle Daybreak belongs to the Night Lord, Theierry and his wife, Hannah. Vegas is still a bustling common point for all the Night Worlders to live, but it is also a dark place for them. His dream was that there could be a small community into which the Night Worlders could efficiently live side by side with humans, that maybe, one day, the trust would surmount into something that could tie them into Circle Daybreak. He never admitted that part of his reason for sending them to Meadow Hollow was that he felt COMPELLED to, but that is the truth. Meadow Hollow came to him one night and he listened to his intuition and sent first the Harmans, followed by the Redferns, to raise their families where it was safer. And thus, the Redferns came to Meadow Hollow, and appropiately send their kids to Lincoln's.

Moving was nothing new to Ayan. During his childhood, they had moved around three other times – sometimes, one can never stay in the same place without people growing suspicious. There was also that accident in which Keaden nearly killed a boy who called Ayan a tease, but that is never mentioned in the household. Ash and Mary-Lynette were sorely disappointed in their youngest child and Keaden still regrets it. Secretly, Ayan regrets having put her brother through something like that, and she hopes one day to pay him back. Somehow.
